HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

HST: DEVELOPED FOR BURN PATIENTS

The scientific HST technique was originally developed as a therapy for burn patients. Doctor and researcher Dr. Coen Gho, founder of the international Hair Science Clinics, is an international authority in the field of hair restoration for burns and scars.

HOW IS HST USED FOR SCARS?

Of all hair transplant options for scarring and burns, HST treatment gives the best, most natural result. Conventional hair transplantation techniques (such as FUE) are limited by the number of hairs in the donor area and the size of the grafts. This is different with the HST method: even if only a few donor hairs are available, new hair growth can be achieved on scar tissue.

This is possible because with HST, only a small part of the hair follicle (and not the whole follicle) is extracted from the donor area. That small piece of tissue contains enough parts from which the hair generate to bring about new hair growth in the recipient area.

Hair growth also remains intact in the donor area. In fact, the new hairs in the donor area are suitable again as donor follicles in a subsequent treatment.

SCIENTIFIC BACKGROUND

For more than 25 years, physician and researcher Dr. Coen Gho has been involved in the development of hair restoration for people with burn scars. His scientific research laid the foundation for HRT and has been crucial in the physical and psychological recovery of thousands of burn patients.

Burn patients often only have a small donor area available for hair transplantation. In addition, these patients have usually already undergone several reconstructive operations, which are physically and psychologically very difficult. Therefore, a low pain burden and a fast healing process were important objectives in the development of the HRT technique.

Natural look

An important goal in developing HST was to achieve natural-looking hair growth. Because scarred skin usually has poor blood flow, a special growth fluid was developed in addition to the HST technique: a substance in which the grafts are stored after extraction and which keeps them in optimal condition.

Quick recovery

The transplanted grafts are super small. Due to their small size, they adhere very quickly in the receiving area. The blood flow is already restored within one day. As a result, wound healing is rapid and the risk of scarring is minimal.

NATURAL RESULTS

The natural results of HST are unparalleled. The result is lifelong.

HAIR RESTORATION ON SCARS

In addition to burns, scars can also be caused by accidents, operations or illnesses. The skin of the scars is then poorly supplied with blood, so that hair follicles cannot survive and hair growth does not take place. Another type of scar is the scar from a FUT hair transplant, also known as the ‘strip method’. This leaves a large, visible scar in the donor area. With many scars, it is possible to achieve hair restoration with a reconstructive HRT treatment.
